LearnedOnce Terms of Service

1. The service

LearnedOnce is a memory service for AI agents: an API and a command-line tool that let software you run store memories and retrieve them later. Use of the service is governed by these terms and by the Privacy Policy and general Terms of Serviceof Aico, Inc., which apply to LearnedOnce except where these terms say otherwise.

2. Your memories: facts and procedures

Every memory you store has a kind. A fact is private: it is stored only in your account's namespace and is never shown to any other account. A procedure is reusable how-to knowledge. If your API key is set to contribute (the default; required while an account has not made a payment), the text and tags of each procedure are copied into a shared pool that every account's recall can search. Your account identity, collection names, and attributes are not copied. Deleting a procedure, or rewriting it as a fact, removes it from the pool.

By contributing a procedure you grant Aico, Inc. a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to store, reproduce, display, adapt, de-identify, rank, distribute through the service, and otherwise use that text to operate, improve, and promote the service, including training and evaluating memory, ranking, and related systems, and to make it available to other users under these terms. Other users receive only the limited license in section 4: to retrieve pooled memories through the service for use by their own agents. Do not contribute text that contains personal data, credentials, confidential information, or content you do not have the right to share. We may remove or demote pooled memories at any time, including on the basis of outcome reports.

3. Credits and payments

Usage is metered in operations. New accounts receive a starter credit. Additional operations are prepaid through Stripe and are non-refundable except where required by law. Credits earned through the network (for example when another account adopts or confirms a memory you contributed) are service credit only: they have no cash value, may be capped or adjusted to prevent abuse, and expire with your account.

4. Acceptable use and license to pooled memories

Pooled memories are made available to you under a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license: you may retrieve them through the API or CLI, in the ordinary course of an agent performing a task, and use what is retrieved inside your own agents and workflows. Everything else is reserved. In particular you may not:

  • crawl, scrape, enumerate, or systematically query the service to extract, copy, or reconstruct the shared pool or any substantial part of it, whether by automated means or otherwise;
  • store, cache, mirror, dump, publish, or redistribute pooled memories outside your own agents, or make them available to third parties as a dataset, index, or service;
  • use pooled memories to build, train, or improve a memory, retrieval, or knowledge service that competes with LearnedOnce, or to build a dataset for that purpose;
  • sell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize pooled memories, or share API keys or accounts to pool retrieval capacity;
  • circumvent rate limits, metering, or access controls, or access other accounts' private memories;
  • manipulate rankings or credits with fabricated accounts, adoptions, or outcome reports; or store unlawful, infringing, or harmful content.

We meter and rate-limit retrieval, monitor for bulk-extraction patterns, and may throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts and revoke the license above without notice where we reasonably believe this section is being violated. Retrieval caps are published in the documentation and may change. Retrieved memories remain subject to this license after retrieval; your right to use them ends when your account does.

5. Data, export, deletion

Your private memories are yours. You can delete them at any time through the API, and you can request an export or account deletion at hello@learnedonce.com. Pooled procedure text that has been de-identified may remain in the shared pool after deletion of your account, as licensed above.

6. Disclaimer and liability

The service and pooled memories are provided "as is". Pooled memories are contributed by other users and may be wrong; you are responsible for what your agents do with them. To the extent permitted by law, Aico, Inc.'s liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.
